Mr. Desmond Wee is a consultant Ear Nose and Throat Surgeon at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital.

He is an Australian trained surgeon with extensive training experience in Perth. He was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery in 2007.

Following this he undertook further post fellowship training overseas. He completed a head and neck fellowship at Auckland City Hospital. This fellowship particularly focused on surgical oncology and thyroid surgery. Following this he completed a fellowship at the Singapore General Hospital on advanced techniques in endoscopic sinus surgery and thyroid surgery. He has also spent time at the University Hospital Gasthuisberg in Leuven, Belgium.

Mr. Wee has an active role in teaching medical students from the University of Western Australia and Notre Dame. He also trains and supervises trainee ENT surgeons at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital.

Mr. Wee is also part of the teaching faculty of the annual Singapore General Hospital Advanced Endoscopic Sinus Surgery Course. This involves training ENT surgeons from the Asia Pacific region including Australia.

In addition, Mr. Wee is involved in voluntary ENT surgery missions. The most recent was with OSSAA (Overseas Specialist Surgical Association of Australia) to Cancar, Flores Islands of Indonesia.

Mr Wee is performing robotic surgery for certain types of head and neck cancers, as well as for surgical management of snoring and obstructive sleep apnoea.

Mr. Wee has operating sessions at South Perth Hospital, Hollywood Private Hospital, St John of God Murdoch, Peel Health Campus, Waikiki Private Hospital and Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital.
